Welcome Peppermint,
I look forward to reading your story soon.
CF.
just registered today after many months of being a silent spectator, hope to tell you a bit about myself in the days/weeks to come, but not just yet.
one step at a time as they say.
i have been helped so much by what i have read here, at first i expected to find bitter and twisted rantings, not so, you all seem very normal.
Welcome Peppermint,

as per my prediction on morrislamb topic thread around christmas.. and i quote:.
"so .. i guess i'll go for the hobbit to pull alot of votes, i think he might be an underdog type winner."...
and yes.. he did win as the "world idol"...norways, kirt nielson... a plumber, married and father of two.
I don't suppose Kelly Clarkson or Will Young were too bothered about losing, they've both sold millions of CDs.
Norwegian guy was good but the trouble is I'd watched U2 Live at Slane Castle (a Christmas present) earlier in the day - now THAT is how to sing 'Beautiful Day'! Loved how the Pan-Arab judges gave Germany and Canana top marks.
By the way did other countries also have to suffer Posh Spice miming her way through her latest dirge before the results?
I also watched the 100 Worst pop songs last night. Interesting to see that judges Simon Cowell and Pete Waterman had produced more than 10 of the entries between them in the top 100.
they're saying the prophecy is possibly fulfilled of "peace and security and then sudden destruction" in the year 1986 when world leaders dubbed that year as the "year of peace".
the feb.1st watchtower mentions that just as a pregnant woman over 9 months gradually has signs of a baby's growth in the womb, so too, we may have a fulfillment of bible prophecy without knowing it fully beforehand until the effects and results become obvious.
my mother read excerpts of the wt.
The writers of these articles once again stress all that's bad in the world, drug abuse, crime rates, spiralling inflation??, terrorism, etc, etc..
Wouldn't it be great to transport these Watchtower writers to 14th century Europe for a week and see which time period they'd then prefer to live in.
awake!-magazine of january 22nd, 2004 contains the article "why i believe in the bible?
a nuclear scientist reports" as told by alton williams.. .
i only own the german edition so maybe someone can quote from the english original.
I hate these kind of articles.
The Watchtower Society is saying 'Look, a nuclear scientist is saying that the 1914 calculation is sound so don't bother researching it any more.'
My mother thinks that the writing department is full of ex-lawyers, ex-doctors, ex-scientists etc who all gave up their posts to write for the Watchtower. As far as she's concerned she doesn't have to do any research outside the publications because men far more intelligent than her have already done the job for her!
Makes me very angry.

ahhh!
but how about the year?????
i always wondered if those that predict the year of the lords return......somehow feel justified, that they would not be going against jesus words if they mearly predicted the year.....and not the day or hour.
Neon
that there is no "7 times" prophecy in the Bible
Exactly!
Nebuchadnezzar was the beginning and end of that prophecy.
Also, that story was originally about Nabonidus and is recorded in the Nabonidus Prayer found at Qumran.
we all know that(those who pay attention anyway, the others who dont are foolish) christmas cometh from a pagan celebration of a "false god", and it still to this day is ignorant.
the fact is that nobody knows when jesus was born, and nobody wont know till after the end into the beginning.
and the fact that the mothers and fathers of this world swears that they "love their children" but also lies to them about santa, people believe in fiction more then they do reality, reality is god and his wonderful creation.
U.2.K
santa is not real so stop lying
I got lots of presents delivered last night so you're the liar! Santa is real - that is a fact!
Merry Christmas.
C.F.
its my departments christmas party tonight, and i can't wait!
we're going to a party night at a local hotel, with a meal and a disco.
and i'm meeting some of the lads at 2pm for a few drinks before we meet everyone else, so i'm going to make sure i have a good night.
Now you've chosen to ignore the counsel given at Ecclesiastes 7:2-4.
Too right!! That guy would have to be one of the all-time great party-poopers.
Anyway - I'm off to get completely sloshed. Merry Saturnalia!
i have been talking with two jw ladies and we got on the subject of the name of jehovah.
i was trying to make the point that they cannot claim to be the only "true" religion.
at first they wanted to start pointing out why they felt they were.
Kymegg,
The god of the bible also had another personal name apart from Yahweh.
El was the name of god long before the word transformed into the generic noun meaning "god". El was the head of the Canaanite pantheon of gods and was the name of the original chief god of Israel.
Exodus 6:2,3 identifies the old god El Shadday with Yahweh "And God said to Moses, 'I am Yahweh. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, then to Jacob as El Shadday, but by my name Yahweh I did not make myself known to them"
This verse shows the patriarchs did not refer to god as Yahweh, but worshipped the Canaanite god El.

The US jobless recovery continues.
hello, i am new here, and i am hoping to stay a while.
it will take me a while to find my way round.. a couple of questions.
1. any good suggestions on where i can find more details on "the best way" to leave this god forsaken organization?.
Hi there Coeur,
I did what can only be termed a 'quick fade' where I just stopped going to meetings, moved out and never talked about my reasons for leaving with any one except my parents. I was lucky that I had someone to stay with till everything calmed down.
